“Who Was St. Patrick?” (video)

Table of Contents

This video sets the record straight on St. Patrick, who did not remove the snakes from Ireland (there were none, and he was British). Patrick wasn’t even a saint, just a humble servant of Jesus Christ. He was enslaved in Ireland and had a dream in which God told him to escape; once he did, he became a monk in Britain. God told him to return and proclaim the Gospel to the Irish. The shamrock represents the Trinity, and the holiday is March 17 because that is the day Patrick died. Watch the video with young adults, and discuss how they feel after learning the truth, as well as if their opinion of the man or the holiday has changed.
