Readings for Sunday, April 28 — Fifth Sunday of Easter
Acts 9:26-31; Ps 22:26-27, 28, 30, 31-32; 1 Jn 3:18-24; Jn 15:4a, 5b; Jn 15:1-8
Suggested Reflection Questions:
- The first reading talks about the early church being “at peace” and “being built up.” Are your family, workplace, and circle of friends peaceful environments where each member is built up? What could you do to improve things?
- The psalm today talks of all the people of the Earth and all who have fallen asleep bowing down before the Lord. Think of someone you’ve loved who has passed away. When you imagine them in heaven, what do you think that experience is like for them? Do you picture them with all the people of the earth?
- The second reading mentions the importance of being loving in our actions, not just our words. Do you find it easier to speak with love or to act with love? Take a minute to intentionally make one commitment to speak more lovingly and one commitment to act more lovingly in the coming week.
- The Gospel reading presents the image of our relationship with God being like the vine and the branches. Do you feel connected to God? What are some ways you already connect with God? How could you become more connected to God and to the important people in your life?
