Eat and Be Satisfied

Readings for August 2, 2020

Isaiah 55: 1-3, 13-14; PS 145:8-9, 15-16, 17-18; Romans 8:35, 37-39; Matthew 14:13-21

Suggested Reflection Questions

  • In the first reading, Jesus calls us to come to the water, the living water that quenches our thirst for meaning like only God can. How do you turn to God when you’re not feeling satisfied?
  • The second reading talks about how nothing can separate us from the love of God. Describe one instance when you might have felt far away from God. What tried to “separate” you from God’s love, and how did you make it through?
  • In the Gospel, Jesus multiplies five loaves and two fish to feed 5,000 people. What is the miracle waiting to happen when you focus on what you have, rather than on what you don’t have?
