Readings for Sunday, February 2, 2020 — The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord
Malachi 3:1-4; Psalm 24:7, 8, 9, 10; Hebrews 2:14-18; Luke 2:22-40 or 2:22-32
Suggested Reflection Questions:
- The Book of Malachi tells the Israelites that they must be prepared for the Messiah’s arrival. What can we do in our lives to prepare to meet Jesus?
- In the second reading, the author of the Letters to the Hebrews discusses Jesus’ humanity. Why did God need to become human? Do you think knowing that God has lived as a human strengthens your relationship with him?
- The Gospel talks about Simeon and Anna, two elderly people who recognize the Christ child as a source of redemption. How are young people viewed in today’s society? How can young Christians be viewed as catalysts of change in our world?
