Lives of Discipleship

Readings for May 4, 2014 — Third Sunday of Easter

Acts 2:14, 22-33; Psalm 16:1-2, 5, 7-8, 9-10, 11; 1 Peter 1:17-21; Luke 24:13-35

Suggested Reflection Questions:

  • In today’s Psalm, we hear that God will show us the path of life. What causes us to veer off that path? How can we stay on track? What are some signs that help us to know when whether we are doing right or wrong?

  • In the second reading from Peter, we learn that we are saved through Jesus’ sacrifice. With this sacrifice comes some expectations on our end. How do we show our appreciation to God for all he has done for us? What are some ways you show reverence?

  • In the Gospel reading, Jesus teaches us to walk with and listen to people before correcting them, as he did with the disciples. Often we are quick to correct people before we give them the chance to speak. How can we be more attentive to others and show one another reverence?
