Readings for March 16, 2014 — Second Sunday of Lent
Genesis 12:1-4A; Psalm 33:4-5, 18-19, 20, 22; 2 Timothy 1:8B-10; Matthew 17:1-9
Suggested Reflection Questions:
- In the first reading from the book of Genesis, God instructs Abraham to do as he says and that he will be rewarded. If we follow God’s command and live in His image and likeness, we too will be rewarded. How can we live out God’s commands in our day-to-day lives? What does living in God’s image and likeness mean to you?
- In the second reading, Paul reminds Timothy to “Bear your share of hardship for the gospel with the strength that comes from God.” What are some challenges you have faced in living out the Gospel? How are you able to overcome them?
- In the Gospel reading, we hear the story of the transfiguration of Jesus. Like Peter, James, and John there are times where we fall to our knees in awe. Where have you encountered Christ today, this week, this month? What types of emotions do you feel in His presence?
