Suggested Reflection Questions
- This Sunday is known throughout the Church as Christ the King Sunday, when we recognize Christ as the king and leader of our faith. In the Old Testament reading and the psalm, we read about the image of God as a shepherd. What are the qualities of a shepherd that make a good leader? What are examples from Christ’s life of times he led like a shepherd?
- The Matthew reading is a call to recognize God in all people — in the hungry, the sick, the most needy. What are ways that you can recognize the humanity and the dignity in all people you meet? How can you reach out to those who are in need in your parish community at this time of year?
- We might have a hard time reconciling the image of a typical king with the type of leader that Jesus was. What characteristics do you see in Christ that you wish to emulate in your own life? How might you lead others to follow God and protect them from the dangers and injustice in today’s world?
