Readings for Sunday, January 7, 2024 — The Epiphany
Is 60:1-6; Ps 72:1-2, 7-8, 10-11, 12-13; Eph 3:2-3a, 5-6; Mt 2:2; Mt 2:1-12
Suggested Reflection Questions:
- In the first reading and the psalm, the writers use a lot of imagery about nations coming forward to praise God. The word catholic means universal, and we are truly a universal church as a Catholic Church. Have you had an experience of Church in another country or seen Catholics gathered worldwide? What was that experience like for you?
- The second reading speaks of coheirs and copartners in Jesus Christ. How do you see yourself as a copartner with Christ? What does that mean to you? What type of lifestyle would someone who is a copartner with Christ lead?
- Many people do not realize that the Christmas seasons last through Epiphany, and we hear about the magi visiting Jesus in today’s Gospel reading. Have you continued to celebrate the season of Christmas? What is one habit or behavior that you can commit yourself to, now, to carry on the Christmas spirit well into the new year?
