St. Rupert

St. Rupert was born in 660 into a wealthy German family. He was the bishop of Worms until 697, when he became a missionary in Bavaria. He baptized both nobles and poor townspeople, and also introduced education to the area. He also helped business by promoting the local salt mines, renaming the small town where he was based Salzburg. He died on Easter Sunday in 710. He is patron saint of the salt merchants of Vienna. His feast day is March 27.

St Rupert of Salzburg, Austria pray for us and for our present day needs. Intercede for us on your feast day that we may be zealous in our love of Christ, and especially that we may respond to the needs of the migrant poor. Amen.” — Prayer to St. Rupert
