Saint Antonio Vieira was born in 1608 in Portugal. He moved to Brazil at a young age and worked with indigenous people and African slaves after joining the Jesuits. He continued to dedicate his life to protecting converts, indigenous people, and slaves until he died at the age of 89. He was canonized in 1897.
