Saint Benedicta

Saint Benedicta Cambiagio Frassinello was born in Langasco, Italy in 1791. She married Giovanni Frassilinello in 1816 and after two years the couple made a commitment to remain chaste. A few years later Benedetta and Giovanni decided to follow the calling to religious orders. Benedicta, who joined the Ursuline Congregation, began dedicating her life to teaching young girls with the aid of Giovanni, a Somascan. A few years later she founded the Congregation of the Benedictine Sisters of Providence, which emphasizes education. Her feast day is March 21.
