Poverty Awareness

Table of Contents

Plan an evening workshop on poverty awareness to talk about the realities that the poor face in your community. Contact your local Red Cross, Catholic Charities, diocese, or another charitable organization that may have an awareness program already. Prior to the event share this website with young adults to get them thinking about the many challenges faced by the poor, and then design similar situations for them to go through in person at the event. You might also talk about specific Bible passages (like Jeremiah 7:1-7, 10-11; Luke 16:19-31; Isaiah 58:10-11; Matthew 22:34-40; 25:31-46; Luke 19:1-10) and provide a sign-up sheet for young adults to volunteer for an upcoming service project that works with the poor.
