Surely, parish community members have talents and skills that meet the needs of young adults today. Foster inter-generational fellowship while passing along important everyday skills to young adults by inviting a few experienced cooks to offer cooking lessons for young adults. You could even pair these classes with a cuisine-themed Scripture reflection. (Think: turning water into wine, the breaking of bread in Eucharist, and the multiplication of loaves and fishes). Alternatively, team up with community members who work in human resources or related fields to host a “Job Search 101” workshop that will help young adults who are looking for paid employment while introducing them to members of the larger community.
