Advent Reconciliation Service

Advent Faith Sharing brings Young Adults together for an evening of conversation as the church prepares for the Christmas Season. This gathering will offer young adults space for quiet reflection, reading scripture, and sharing favorite poems, short stories, or writings about Christmas.

Invite several priests to participate in an evening young adult reconciliation service during Advent. Explain the sacrament to all those present as a refresher course, highlighting the need for us to understand that we are already forgiven by God but that we ritualize that to experience it more tangibly. Sacraments are for us, after all, not God. You might want to share this great video refresher on reconciliation as part of your service or e-mail it to young adults to promote the service. Ask that people return to the church and “keep vigil” for one hour while all go to confession. At the conclusion of one hour, all confessions should be completed. Gather the group back together for a song of praise, benediction, or a simple group prayer to conclude the ritual.
