Using SWOT To Improve Young Adult Ministry

Advent Faith Sharing brings Young Adults together for an evening of conversation as the church prepares for the Christmas Season. This gathering will offer young adults space for quiet reflection, reading scripture, and sharing favorite poems, short stories, or writings about Christmas.

Evaluating What You Already Do

We recommend using a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis to explore what your parish or organization is already doing to reach young adults. It’s a good idea to gather a group of young adults, and work through this process together. You may want to include members of the parish staff or parish council in this process to broaden the view. If your parish has a handbook, calendar, or listing of ministries, have those as well as a month’s worth of bulletins on hand. These can serve as a reminder during the process of all the activities already going on in the parish that young adults might be able to connect with.

Learn more about this SWOT analysis and use the helpful worksheet in the Essentials section of Young Adult Ministry in a Box.
