Dusty Catholics is a Lenten outreach project that combines a three-part evangelization plan for providing young adults with a personal encounter with Christ: in-person on Ash Wednesday, online, and at parish and outreach events. NOTE: We’re featuring this now -- in the fall -- so you have plenty of time to prepare for Lent!
Plan a “Religious Road Trip” to attend mass at a parish you do not normally attend. Schedule this group trip to explore a different parish and restaurant local to that area.
This is a prayer experience for young adults and the community at large. Young adults will invite those passing by the church to enter for a moment of prayer as the Blessed Sacrament is exposed.
Taking children under 5 to Mass can be stressful for young families. This event provides a relaxed atmosphere to gather families with young children for Mass at an alternate site followed by a potluck dinner. Volunteers lead children in a Lenten craft activity and games. Families can worship together and have an opportunity to meet and create community with others.
These instructions will help you create a Lenten prayer book for young adults that’s written by young adults. The prayer book contains meditations based on the daily Gospel readings for Lent and will invite young adults to deepen their prayer life.
