Sprouting Seeds

Readings for Sunday, June 16 — 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time:

Ez 17:22-24; Ps 92:2-3, 13-14, 15-16; 2 Cor 5:6-10; Mk 4:26-34

Suggested Reflection Questions:

  • How is the seed of your own faith life doing? Is it taking root? Is it flourishing? Does it need something to help it along (more water, shade, sun, etc.)? What are you doing to nurture it?
  • Read the psalm again, and this time focus on the words that convey strength and vitality. What words did you choose? Take one word and discuss how it applies to your faith life right now.
  • Ultimately, the growth of the seed (and of us) is in God’s hands alone, though we may act as gardeners for God. Who in your life has tended the seed of your soul? Have you served as a gardener for someone?
  • The second reading talks about being courageous. What does it mean to be a courageous Christian in today’s world? How are you courageous in your everyday life?
