Readings for Sunday, January 26, 2025 — Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Suggested Reflection Questions:
- The first two readings deal explicitly with God’s law. How is God’s law different from human law? Do human laws reflect God’s law? If so, how?
- Paul gives the community at Corinth the image of all believers as members of Christ’s body. Unity, interdependence, and solidarity are to be marks of the Church. How do we see the Church living out these attributes in today’s world? Are there ways in which we can grow in our mission to truly be the body of Christ? What are individual things we can do to live out these attributes ourselves?
- At the synagogue in Nazareth, Jesus proclaims the words of the Prophet Isaiah before the assembly. As the prophet has foretold, Jesus has come to “bring glad tidings to the poor,” “to proclaim liberty to captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free.” What do you hunger for? What do you need to be liberated from? What are you blind to? What binds and oppresses you?
