Suggested Reflection Questions:

  • The first reading is about original sin. What does this story say to you about the human condition? Why do you think the Devil had so much influence over Adam and Eve even though they already had everything they could ask for from God?
  • In the letter to the Romans, Paul discusses how Jesus’s sacrifice acquitted humanity from sin. What does Jesus’ death and resurrection mean to you? How do you approach sin knowing forgiveness is guaranteed ?
  • After his baptism in the Jordan, Jesus is led into the desert for prayer and fasting. The devil tries to tempt Jesus to forsake his fast for comfort and power. Jesus rejects everything that the devil tries to do Despite everything, Jesus does NOT call out to God. What is the significance of Jesus not asking God to remove the hardship during his fast? Read further in the passage. Who does God send to Jesus? What does this show us about God’s faithfulness?
