Suggested Reflection Questions:

  • The readings today begin with a passage from Matthew’s Gospel. The crowd is in awe of Jesus, recognizing him as an extremely important figure and the fulfillment of prophecies. How does this serve as a reminder of how we should praise Jesus? Why do you think the Palm Sunday Mass begins with this reading? Why is it such an important Catholic celebration?
  • The second reading is a powerful explanation of Jesus’ role as both fully divine and fully human. What does this duality mean to you? Does Jesus’ human experience help you to deepen your connection with him? How does your relationship with God the Father and God the Son differ?
  • This year, the account of the Passion is from Matthew’s Gospel. Take some time to skim through it before Mass. Which details stick out to you? What moments do you find to be particularly powerful, upsetting, enlightening, etc.?
