Suggested Reflection Questions:

  • After their long enslavement and exile, Moses exhorts the people to remember God’s goodness to them when they called out in distress. They are to show their gratitude for God’s deliverance by offering the first of their harvest to God. Is there a time when you had a clear sense that God answered your call for help? What “first fruits” can you offer to God as a sign of your gratitude this Lent?
  • The second reading this week is centered around the idea that Jesus died for us, even though we are sinners. What do you feel when you think about this? How can we show gratitude to God for this enormous act of love?
  • Jesus reveals his identity as the Messiah to the Samaritan woman, and many begin to follow him after this. What does this show you about the power of conversion? How can we spread the Good News to diverse populations?
