Living in the Light

Readings for Sunday, March 11, 2018 — Fourth Sunday of Lent

2 Chronicles 36:14-16, 19-23; Psalm 137: 1-6; Ephesians 2:4-10; John 3:14-21

Suggested Reflection Questions:

  • In the second reading, we hear that God is rich in mercy. Can you say the same in your own life? Where can you be more merciful in your life right now? Also, how have you accepted God’s mercy in your own life? How might you better accept the riches of God?
  • The words of John 3:16 are familiar ones, often quoted or printed on signs: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.” Why do you think this verse is so important to Christians?
  • God is always faithful to the covenant, even though we may break it. What is one way that you can express your love for God who loves each of us so deeply? Name one small way that you can be more faithful to God in your everyday life.
  • How have you “preferred darkness to light” in your life? What steps toward the light are you ready to take or are already taking?
