Year of Mercy

Last week marked the beginning of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy. Pope Francis opened the Holy Doors of St. Peter’s Basilica to symbolically celebrate the start of the year. (If you don’t know what Holy Doors are — listen to this podcast.) Catholics are called to make mercy a real part of their lives — accepting God’s mercy and showing mercy to others. Talk with young adults about mercy and the ways they can share God’s mercy with others:

  • What does “mercy” mean to you? What have you experienced God’s mercy, or another person’s mercy or forgiveness, in your life?
  • What does the celebration of the Year of Mercy mean to you?
  • How can you prioritize mercy in your everyday life? Where is God showing you to be more merciful?
