Waiting in Joyful Hope

Readings for Sunday, December 13 — Third Sunday of Advent

Zephaniah 3:14-18a; Isaiah 12: 2-6; Philippians 4:4-7; Luke 3:10-18

Suggested Reflection Questions:

  • God is in our midst; God is very near. In what ways are you aware of God’s nearness? Is there anything in your life that keeps you from feeling it?

  • In the psalm today, we continue to hear of joy and gladness, just as we did last week. How does this theme relate to Advent? What was a moment of joy and gladness from this past week, for you?

  • What is in your heart right now? Is it the spirit of joy and peace described in today’s readings? Or something else? (perhaps anxiety about the number of shopping days left until Christmas?!)

  • What spiritual housecleaning do you need to do in order to be ready for Jesus to move into your heart?
