As I Have Loved You

Readings for Sunday, May 10 — 6th Sunday of Easter

Acts 10:25-26, 34-35, 44-48; Psalm 98: 1-4; 1 John 4:7-10; John 15:9-17

Suggested Reflection Questions:

  • The first reading says that “God shows no partiality.” God’s message and God’s love are for everyone. What do you find most challenging about God’s impartiality? Who are the people you are tempted to exclude?

  • In the psalm today, we hear of all the nations breaking into song and singing praise. Have you witnessed Mass or worship in a country outside the United States? What was that experience like for you? What did you take away from that experience?

  • When have you experienced “laying down your lives” for each other? What sacrifices do you make for others or do others make for you out of love?

  • There’s a lot of talk about love in today’s readings … but what does love really mean? What does it look like in action in your real life? Call to mind a specific moment when you knew love was working.
