Readings for June 15, 2014 — The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity

Suggested Reflection Questions:

  • In the first reading from Exodus, Moses is brought to his knees as God reveals himself. God is merciful, gracious, slow to anger, and rich in kindness and fidelity. How can we sense God’s divine attributes at Mass this week?
  • In the second reading St. Paul tells the Corinthians to show peace and kindness to one another. Just as God showed kindness to Moses in the first reading, we are asked to do the same to others in our world. What are the qualities of a kind person? Why is it sometimes difficult to show kindness? How can we better show kindness to others today and the rest of the week?
  • In the Gospel reading, we hear a verse that is so familiar it can be found at the bottom of Forever 21 bags and In-N-Out burger cups. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit make up the Holy Trinity — three persons in one God. God sent Jesus into the world to become one of us so that we could live and love a God who shares our pain as well as our joy. The Holy Trinity is difficult to understand, but that is part of its beauty. Reread the passage again with the Holy Trinity in mind. How does it change your perspective?
