I’m No Superman

“I can’t stand to fly. I’m not that naive.” — Five for Fighting, “Superman”

Coming into your own can be difficult, particularly in a tumultuous time like your 20s. Young adults can second guess and get down on themselves because their lives do not always end up the way they want them to. Especially just after college or graduate school graduation, young adults believe that they will instantaneously change the world with bright ideas and big dreams — but sometimes it takes a bit longer than they expect. However, no one’s perfect, and young adults (all adults) shouldn’t expect their lives to be perfect either.

And sometimes when life doesn’t go exactly as expected, we might even question our faith and belief in God. We aren’t expected to be superheroes, and God knows that. We have to carry on with our lives, despite the disappointments and unfortunate left turns. God will be there every step of the way.

Read this article and then have a discussion about how young adults can deal with the left turns in life.

  • How does your faith help you through these issues?
