Play Ball!

With baseball back in our lives we don’t need to look far for players’ testaments of faith. One popular gesture — players pointing to the sky. Whether after a home run, shut out inning, or “leap of faith” catch, it is not uncommon to see a player raise their eyes and point up. There’s faith in the stands, too. Last week Busted Halo’s Matt Weber reflected on the deeply spiritual experience of participating in The Wave at baseball games. So, what does faith have to do with baseball? Sports in general? Share Matt’s article and ask young adults what they think:

  • What connections do you see between faith and baseball? What sports experiences have you had that you’d consider “spiritual”?
  • Name one way you experienced God’s presence in something secular or “ordinary” this week. What did that experience feel like?
